Everyone has bad habits. However, not every habit is harmful for your teeth. Here at Agape Dentist, we offer advice on which habits to avoid so you can protect your teeth and keep a healthy smile throughout your life.
Here are some of these habits to avoid:
If you play sports without wearing a mouthguard, there is a high chance that the hard, forceful objects involved in the sport can hit your mouth and cause broken, loose, or lost teeth and it can also cause a misaligned or injured jaw. So, make sure you wear a mouthguard while you are active.
Sugar is the substance that can create tooth decay, so it’s best to protect your smile by avoiding consuming sugary products like candy, sweets, and soda. However, if you do end up eating or drinking sugary products, it’s best to properly clean your smile afterward.
Snacking all day can make your smile vulnerable to tooth decay, especially because snacking doesn’t give your teeth time to strengthen their enamel and block harmful substances. So, please limit your snacking and stick to only eating meals throughout the day.
Whether you believe it or not, chewing on pencils can fracture your pearly whites. Over time, those fractures become bigger and thicker, resulting in major dental issues in the future. So, it’s best to avoid this habit.
Smoking is a dangerous habit that can stain your teeth, develop gum disease, and make you a victim of oral cancer. We strongly recommend that you avoiding using tobacco products as much as possible, and if you need help doing so, feel free to ask your dentist for advice.
By avoiding these habits, you can keep your teeth in pristine condition.
