Restoring Multiple Missing Teeth with a Removable Partial

Posted April 29, 2016.

Severe tooth decay or an accident that fractures multiple teeth can severely compromise the full function and appearance of your mouth. Beyond merely impairing your ability to chew food, it can also cause problems with your speech and have a negative impact on your quality of life. In a situation like this, Agape Dentist will often recommend those teeth being restored with a removable partial.

A partial is basically like an abbreviated form of dentures that restores the full function of the lost teeth. Two separate appointments are needed for Agape Dentist to fit you for a partial.

The initial appointment starts with a thorough examination your mouth. It’s important to address any other problematic teeth in the area. This might even require additional extractions.

Next, an impression will be taken of the area, which will be sent to a dental lab, where your new partial is custom crafted to fit into the void created by the missing teeth.

At your second appointment, Agape Dentist will fit your new partial in place and make any minor adjustments. A lot of people with partials prefer to use denture adhesive to secure their partial in place and help block out food particles.

If you have multiple missing teeth in one part of your mouth and you are interested in exploring your restoration options, or you have questions about being fitted for a partial, please call Agape Dentist at 781.995.4445 to schedule an appointment.
